Overnight Cattle Drives

Now you don't have to go out West!

Imagine yourself back in the Old Cowboy Days of the 1880s, sitting on your horse, driving cattle to one of the railroad markets. We will be offering a small taste of that experience starting this Fall. Here is the setup: Arrive on Friday night and sleep in a comfortable room with amenities with home cooked meals in our rustic dining room. The next morning, after breakfast, we will assign you a horse and go through some corral riding to get each guest comfortable in the saddle. Then we take you on a trail ride where you'll see some great scenery and get even better acquainted with your mount. After lunch around 2 pm, we will saddle up, go and get the cattle, and drive them down some fields that run with the French Broad River. Our cattle drive will take 1-2 hours, where we will set up camp and get the grub on the fire for a great trail supper. We will sit around the campfire, check horses and cattle, and get a good night's sleep for the next day. After breakfast at the campfire, we will saddle back up, drive the cattle back home for another couple of hours. Then our guests can make use of their room to get ready to go back to the real world. This is an experience that usually requires you to fly out West and is only available at certain times. Our trip allows you to do a once-in-a-lifetime experience without the hassle of flying, and you can fit it into a regular weekend. Don't miss this opportunity to live and breathe like a real Cowboy for a couple of nights. You will have the time of your life and an experience you will never forget!

Here is your all-inclusive total cost:

Single Adult =$699.00
Two Adults/teen =$1349.00

This includes all of your meals either in the dining room or on the drive, your assigned horse & the cattle drive, your room and your space on the drive.

Each guest will need to bring their own sleeping bag and small travel pillow for the overnight. Also bring a small flashlight.

Special diets cannot be accommodated for this package.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GLAMPING OVERNIGHT TRIP YOU ARE OUT IN THE WILDERNESS Choose any weekend from March 15th until May 22nd and then September to the end of October. There has to be at least 6 riders for the overnight to occur. You can start the process by booking, and others can join you as time passes. IF we don't get enough riders, we will let you know 1 month before your arrival date informing you there are not enough, and at that point we will have to adjust the cattle drive part to either a day trip with lunch or a regular stay with the shorter ranch drives.

Clinic Dates in 2025
March 14-16, May 16-18 or September 12-14

The clinics are followed by an advanced rider 5 nights a week if you want to stay longer and really hone your newly learned skills with more trotting and cantering. If you do the clinic ($599 + tax) you can stay another 5 nights for only $1400.00 more. (extra 5 nights) This is all-inclusive with meals, lodging & horseback riding. Cost for clinics:

$599.00 each, which includes instruction, lodging and meals for the weekend.
Plus taxes weight limit for clinics is 200 lbs.

FAQ

Our Dude Ranch gives you these things: a restful place to relax and spend time with your family, great food, great horses and trail experiences, and a vacation to remember a lifetime.

Answer: Our family started breeding Arabian horses in 1987. In 1991, we decided to open a ranch, so people could learn about the Arabian horse and that they make very good trail horses. This fact is not widely known since many Arabian horse owners prefer to show their horses and leave them “Hot” which is a term for this breed of horse and many others. In simple terms, horses that are not trained to face fear using round pen training techniques, like in the movie “Horse Whisperer”, could be termed “hot-blooded.” The Arabian horse, when trained in this manner, makes one of the best trail horses, and our record of safety proves it.

Answer: No. We are not authorized by the State of Tennessee to babysit. We do have a couple of times each week during the summer, primarily, kids programs when sometimes their parents are elsewhere, but kids less than 7 require at least one adult to stay behind and accompany them. Our programs are set up for families to stay together as much as possible, to maximize good times together.

Other Policies

  • Swimming Pool (open May 30th to September 1)
  • All prices are for each guest. Singles add a 20% surcharge for the high season only.
  • All of our cabins and rooms have their own private bathrooms, and all buildings have air conditioning. Some activities: Rafting during low season on the French Broad is available for an extra charge of $25 dollars per guest, minimum 4 guests.
  • At the time you make reservations, unless otherwise stated, a 30% deposit is required and can be paid either by personal check or by credit card receipt. Your balance is due the day you check in and can be paid by cash, check or credit card.
